New Ad! This mini-ad ran on the occasional letters page of various DCs in 1973, promising "Something BIG."
DC had actually started publishing the treasuries in 1973, so this ad's a little behind the times, but what the heck--better this than just some dead space on a comics page!
New Interview! I had a chance to interview Big Time Comics Pro Sam Kieth, writer/artist/creator of such series as The Maxx and Zero Girl, as well as artist on books like Sandman and Batman/Lobo.
Turns out Sam is a big fan of treasury-sized comics, and he agreed to do an interview with me about his love for the format. Click Sam's name above to read what he had to say!
New Ad! This was one of those treasury ads I've seen in a thousand different DC books; always assuming I had scanned it in and put it up on the site long ago.
Then, when I flipped past it again today, I went "Wait a minute..."
It's a great ad, I love the b/w "file photo" motif.
New Fun Fact! In the newest issue of TwoMorrow's Back Issue! (#30), there's an extensive interview with the first TV Captain Marvel, Jackson Bostwick, and the subject of his appearance on a treasury comic comes up, thanks to interviewer P.C. Hammerlink!
New Ad! I found this unusual ad in a 1981 issue of the Marvel magazine Bizarre Adventures.
The answer to the question is Hulk, of course, when it really should have been Captain America. Although a treasury-sized Batman Vs. Thor book has its possibilities...
Looking at this now, it seems incomprehensible that an ad for The Comics Journal would be so superhero-centric.
Sorry for taking so long between updates, its been a little harder than usual finding treasury-related material!
New Addition! A handsome, treasury-sized French hardcover featuring the work of Geoff Darrow!
New Ad! This is another heretofore unknown treasury ad I found in an old issue of The Phantom Stranger, this time for The House of Mystery! Cool!
