Planet Comic Book Radio

sgMy episode of Planet Comic Book Radio--"Son of My 70s Show"--is now available as a podcast.

I had a lot of fun talking with pal Javier, and we mostly talk about my time at the Kubert School, treasury comics, Power Records, and black and white magazines, but other stuff finds its way into the conversation, as well.

It's broken up into three parts so you don't overload on my geeky ramblings:

Part 1Part 2Part 3

Javier told me his highest rated episode was his first, when my pal Ben Holcomb was on the show. I'm hoping I at least match that, so Javier will be inspired to do another 70s-themed show (Beneath the Planet of the 70s Show, perhaps?), so please check it out!

Planet Comic Book Radio - 4/22/08

sgShameless Plug Department: I will be the guest on my pal Javier "El Muerto" Hernandez's swell online radio show Planet Comic Book Radio next Tuesday, April 22nd!

I will be the guest for the whole hour, and we will talk about my various blogging endeavors, and I'm certain treasury comics will come up. (In fact, that's how Javier and I first met--he wrote a post for his blog once about the treasuries, and emailed me to ask if he could use some of the images from treasurycomics.com. We've stayed in contact ever since.)

The show airs every week live at 8pm Eastern/5pm Pacific Time, and of course available for Podcast afterwards. Please check it out and tell Javier Treasury Comics.com sent you!

Amazing World of Superman - 1973

sg
New Photo! This is a photo of Joe Shuster "enjoying" a pile of Superman comics, including this tabloid which he has in his hands.

I had never seen this picture before until Mark Evanier posted it on his blog,
newsfromme.com, in a post about the recent court ruling involving the "rights" to Superman.

He also points out the cruel irony of this picture--nowhere inside this giant book all about the history of Superman does it mention Siegel and Shuster. Gadzooks.

I Mean It This Time

sg Ok, back in 2007 I created this blog with the intention of merging the home site's "What's New" page with a blog, but couldn't find a way to format it to my satisfaction, so I set it aside for a while. But I finally got it where I want it now!

I just did a big update for the site, and that will be the last for the "What's New" page as we know it. Starting in a few weeks, any link to that page will come here, to the Treasury Comics Blog, and instead of a once-monthly group update, I will add things as I get them, leading to hopefully more updating, more notice given to the smaller (but still fun!) additions I regularly make to the site, plus now you fans of the site will have the chance to comment on what I'm doing and what you see on the site, something we've never had before.

I already have a new treasury comic to add to the site, so in a week or two, it will appear here, as will all additions after that. I hope you all enjoy the change!
